Abidjan is fast turning into a hotbed for Designers from West Africa. New York Based Loza Maléombho still keeps things close to home by producing her collections back in Abidjan and keeping the fabrication more than 60% local. For Spring Summer 2014 there’s a great use of color and architectural volume made possible by cuts and the native hand-woven Ivorian cloth. The direction for this label stays solid all through collections and there’s a progression in terms of craftsmanship, aesthetics and presentation. Finance would send things into a nuclear level. One of my fav young African Labels at the moment.
