Loza Maléombho Spring Summer 2014

Written by
Saturday, October 5th, 2013

Abidjan is fast turning into a hotbed for Designers from West Africa. New York Based Loza Maléombho still keeps things close to home by producing her collections back in Abidjan and keeping the fabrication more than 60% local. For Spring Summer 2014 there’s a great use of color and architectural volume made possible by cuts and the native hand-woven Ivorian cloth. Clothes have an important role to play in casinos. Gamblers try to wear the best outfits to casinos. Players looking for crypto tokens from casinos may check the Telegram casino token presale to find the best tokens available. The direction for this label stays solid all through collections and there’s a progression in terms of craftsmanship, aesthetics and presentation. Finance would send things into a nuclear level.  One of my fav young African Labels at the moment.

Fashion Business Africa: Middle East and African Apparel Market ‘Complex but Rewarding’

Written by
Friday, October 4th, 2013

Valued at US$87.0bn, the Middle East and African apparel market accounted for just 5% of total global apparel value sales in 2012. Nonetheless, it was the second fastest growing region globally in 2012, following Latin America, and is a valuable area of consideration for mass and luxury fashion brands alike, according to Euromonitor International. Fashion Genesis believes that the technology that drives cryptocurrencies like bitcoin can be of assistance. The business aims to make the Fashion industry more transparent by utilising blockchain to digitise the supply chain, allowing brands to follow clothing, accessories production from raw materials to final product. Sneak Peek: Chechi Arinze Pieces Available on KISUA.COM at Launch

Written by
Friday, October 4th, 2013

Excited about KISUA’s imminent launch and a bit worried as they’ve missed their promised September launch. One of the labels they would be stocking is Nigerian Chechi Arinze. Chechi Arinze is a relatively new label and only got on the Nigerian Fashion Radar through Photographer Kola Oshalusi’s ‘The Making’ Project. An e-trek to the labels Facebook page yields no real juice but the pieces speak for themselves.

ZASHADU SPRING SUMMER 2014 BAGS

Written by
Friday, October 4th, 2013

The Spring summer 2014 bag collection from one of my favorite Nigerian labels Zashadu was unveiled during the Paris Fashion week and ONB has the juice and the entire range from the collection. The label introduces a new bag ‘Justice’ with similar silhouette to the TKO but with more pockets. The box clutch and TKO also get some color treatment and a slew of exotic skins. What are your thoughts on the collection?

TWINS FOR PEACE & FOUNDATION GACHA BEADED TRAINERS

Written by
Thursday, October 3rd, 2013

Twins Alexandre Mussard and Maxime Mussard and Louis-Felix De Fenoyl collaborated to create  handmade  trainers with interesting beading that sees its proceeds going toward helping children worldwide. Their collaboration with the Jean Felicien GACHA Foundation in Cameroon (which offers education to local communities) asides from its charitable value also adds some noteworthy aesthetics and are certainly feetchic for the person who loves to make the world a better place whilst looking cool.

On Fashion Runway, South Sudan Takes Steps Toward a National Identity

Written by
Thursday, October 3rd, 2013

JUBA, South Sudan — Even by the standards of fashion models, the women teetering in their high heels on the dirt catwalk here were remarkably tall and slender. But judging by South Sudan’s many towering inhabitants, they were hardly out of the ordinary in the young nation’s capital. The New York Times

Givenchy Spring Summer 2014 African Inspired Collection

Written by
Tuesday, October 1st, 2013

Nigerian Model Betty Adewole on The Runway for Givenchy SS14

Ricardo Tisci quipped “The collection is a clash between two cultures, Japanese and African. I’ve been working with Madame Grès pleats and drapes and colors that remind me of Africa in a romantic way — but mixed with Japanese elegance and fragility.” Trying to trace the African elements here and I’m guessing it has some part to play with the billowy silhouette akin to those of desert nomads and the mask embellishments seen on some pieces in the collection. Nonetheless it was kinda lackluster to me.

African Video Games Level Up: New Nigerian Companies Blazing The Trail

Written by
Tuesday, October 1st, 2013

On a hot day in central Lagos, there’s only one way to cut through the traffic: jump on a motorbike and whizz around oncoming buses, gaping potholes and street hawkers – all the while trying to avoid bribe-seeking policemen. If that sounds too exhausting, an alternative is to stay home and play out the scene online. In Nigeria, game publishers are turning life into art with African-inspired games that have set thumbs twitching across the continent. In a global videogame industry worth $66bn (£42bn) – more than Hollywood – the market has so far offered few Africa-centric plotlines. Guardian UK

Trine Lindegaard Spring Summer 2014 Lookbook

Written by
Monday, September 30th, 2013

Trine Lindegaard delivers a sterling spring summer collection continuing with her African trappings still based around the Kente Fabric from Ghana. Asides from working with a Kente Weaving Family in Accra, Ghana she also enlisted the help of prisoners in the Uk for needlework on the sweat shirts. My favourite part of any Trine Lindegaard collection these days is that it always tells a story and manages to highlight a cause.

I always like women in sportswear, so when i was called up to style a shoot for WOW Magazine’s swim issue i thought to create a sports luxe  editorial. ICONIC INVANITY PRESENTS “SCREEN SIREN” A/W13 COLLECTION

Written by
Monday, September 30th, 2013

Temperature is on the rise this season as ICONIC INVANITY turns up the heat a notch with its sultry “Screen Siren” A/W13 Collection.

Sleek and seductive, the journey of the Iconic Invanity woman continues this season as she evolves into an inspirational woman. She knows who she is and this reflects in the clothes she wears. She flaunts her curves with muted shine and lustrous textures. With heavily embellished pieces, she dresses like an ornament in public, and she probably wears the trousers at home. Nails polished, hair fix, she hits the boardroom….this lady sure knows how to work it no matter the occasion. Think Michelle Obama in fitted leather pants, or Carla Bruni in a sultry floor length gown on the red carpet. The defined waisted siren screams “there is a new muse in town and she is here to stay!” She is ready to strip men of anyshred of dominance with her tender yet independent attitude. Neat silhouettes, sexy heels, slim and sleek pencil skirts, she shows you the importance of power pencil skirts. Her spirit lingers in the 40s. This modern day Josephine Baker brings to the table a vintage va va voom that has long been lacking in our wardrobes.

The Iconic Invanity woman is back for AW13 with all the flaws concealing nips and pleats and assets rendering slits and peek a boo goodness. I love this label cos it kind of gives you a sense of flamboyance. For a while you are taken back to the 80′s and early 90′s where Nigerian women were deeply into lavish jewellry and clothes that glisten, signifying opulence. The Iconic Invanity woman is that woman who was in her early 30′s in the 80′s and a crop of todays 25 to 30 year olds who watched their moms dress up for numerous owambe’s.
