Malakh&Sco is an online retailer for Independent African fashion designers, aimed at expanding their brands and diversifying their market base. The company was founded by two undergraduate friends, Demi Ademuson (University of Birmingham, UK) and Tobi Tikolo (Harvard University, MA) who both believe that “African Art, fashion and culture has reached a level of maturity at which it is ready to be exported to the world”. It launched www.malakhandsco.com on the 1st of April with three designers: Grey (@greyprojects), Republic of Foreigner (@LadyInTheROF) and House 38 (@House_38), with additions of collections from Andrea Iyamah (@AndreaIyamah) and Toju Foyeh (@TojuFoyeh) to come. They are also in talks with a “handpicked selection of talented African designers”. “We like to see ourselves as more than just a middleman, we have genuine interest in the growth of all the brands we are involved with. The times are really exciting times for the Industry as a whole and we are honoured and blessed to be a part of it”.
