South African based Nigerian stylist Babatunde started his label way back in 2009 but thanks to a recent How To Spend It magazine feature, i found out about the label a few weeks back. As most of you would know, i’ve switched the mallam hats in favor of snapbacks now and i don’t mind getting some of these as long as they sit well on my head. Saw some at the arts market in Accra but i was not satisfied with the silhouette. These one look good and especially now in summer
Babatunde was conceived in tough and trying times. The brainchild of a Fashion Stylist and Traveller, Babatunde looks at embracing what is truly African and promoting strong family values. The word Babatunde is a Yoruba (Nigerian) name. Translated the word means “the father returns”. We at Babatunde urge the fathers to return to Africa. Men, behave like men – accept responsibility and accountability for yourselves. Nurture and be there for your families. Women – accept nothing less! All of the headwear is made in Johannesburg South Africa from African fabrics. Proudly African!
